An arresting new quartet album that denounces the injustices against African-Americans in the United States.
Born in Oakland, California, trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire presents On the Tender Spot of Every Calloused Moment, a fifth album that denounces the injustices against African-Americans in the United States. The talented trumpet player of Nigerian origin invites his long-time bandmates pianist Sam Harris, double bassist Harish Raghavan and drummer Justin Brown on this album.
This quartet album presents eleven new original compositions with the lead single “Mr. Roscoe (consider the simultaneous)” which is a dedication to saxophonist Roscoe Mitchell, co-founder of the Art Ensemble of Chicago. This whistleblowing work highlights the trumpet playing and virtuosity of Ambrose Akinmusire.
On the Tender Spot of Every Calloused Moment is set to land on June 5 via Blue Note Records. You can pre-order it now here.
